Margaret Mitchell House
Rhodes Hall
Historical Landmarks Tour - Saturday 10 AM
$120
Our first stop will be The Margaret Mitchell House. The structure was the home of author Margaret Mitchell, where she wrote the bulk of her Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, Gone with the Wind. You will also see an exhibition that details the transformation from a best-selling novel to a film classic.
Just a few miles away is Rhodes Hall, built in 1904. While it was originally the residence of Rhodes Furniture founder Amos Rhodes, today it is a house museum, and one of the most unique venues in Atlanta. It is also where you will enjoy a scrumptious lunch and a refreshing beverage.
Our final destination will be Historic Oakland Cemetery, scenic resting place with more than 70,000 “residents” including Atlanta legends such as Margaret Mitchell, pro golfer Bobby Jones and Atlanta’s first black mayor, Maynard Jackson. The Oakland Cemetery is a peaceful oasis filled with history, art, architecture, and local lore in the heart of a bustling city.
Transportation and lunch is also included and hosted by the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation and Atlanta Black Tie members.
